This n' That

No wonder kids aren't learning. Removing an award winning teacher for something so trivial and minor in the grand scheme of things is censorship at best and sets a dangerous precedent for teachers in the future. A fifth grader is around eleven years old and I'm pretty sure I knew about nudity and art before then. This means that these parents would object to their child seeing most of art history. What a shame to have to grow up feeling ashamed of the human body.

I have my very own replica (sort of) of a famous nude statue which I call Penis de Milo. He was found at a swap meet by a friend of mine and given to me as a joke, but I like it. People's reactions when they see it are quite revealing.

Education is a hot topic for me this morning.

The teachers who sparked my interest in science were all male and the ones who encouraged me to do better were female. What they had in common was that they were good teachers. If a teacher can explain a subject to a student and get them interested in it, it doesn't matter what their gender is, what matters is whether they can communicate successfully with their students. Period.

A combat death that couldn't be ignored and will probably have more of an impact than can be immediately considered. This will have psychological effects that ripple away from the center in an ever widening circle. Sometimes being first isn't always the best thing.

The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
