Well, my response to that is just because the show had special effects doesn't make it science fiction. The show was extremely well written with well developed characters and a coherent plotline. Battlestar Galactica suffers from the same problem, people get stuck on the setting and don't pay attention to the work and it languishes in Emmy outer space, like a forgotten child. But if I'm not mistaken, Taken won a big Emmy a few years ago so there is still hope.
