Ground Control?

In what seems to be one more piece of evidence that as a nation we have decided to blow up instead of grow up, DARPA is trying to slip through another questionable space project and Congress is aiding and abetting their little venture. Hot on the heels of the failure of the Boeing spy satellite system, now the government wants to build (I'm sure it will be outsourced to the lowest bidder, probably Boeing) a

"reusable Hypersonic Cruise Vehicle" (HCV) capable of delivering 12,000 pounds of payload at a distance of 9,000 nautical miles from [the continental United States] in less than two hours."

Every day we get closer and closer to the scary side of the science fiction world. The one where every technological advance is used to terrorize and control the citizens, not the one where we boldly go where no one has gone before. Dictators, tyrants and controlled societies are becoming the norm. Again.

Billions to strike down people from outer space, nothing for children's health care. They really are planning on the Rapture because the future they plan on leaving for the survivors is going to be hell on earth.
