Too Late To Help

I can't believe that anyone really thought Moussaoui was a mastermind or even included in the plan except our overzealous administration. This guy wasn't smart enough not to get caught, so he definitely couldn't have planned or warned anybody and been believed. We just needed a scapegoat...in lieu of the real thing.
Bin Laden, on Tape, Denies Moussaoui's Role in 9/11 - New York Times: "Mr. Moussaoui was sentenced on May 4 to life in federal prison for failing to warn American authorities of the 9/11 attacks. He had told jurors that he had conspired with Richard Reid, the would-be shoe bomber, to pilot a plane into the White House on the day of the hijackings, but American intelligence officials have said there is no evidence to support that claim.

Though a technical review of the tape was incomplete tonight, an American counterterrorism official said the speaker appeared to be Mr. bin Laden. The tape includes English subtitles and a still photograph of the Al Qaeda leader in front of a plain white wall.

In the 4 1/2 -minute tape, the voice believed to be that of the Al Qaeda leader addresses 'the American people' and says Mr. Moussaoui had 'no connection whatsoever' with the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. He added that 'I am certain of what I say, because I was responsible for entrusting the 19 brothers, Allah have mercy upon them, with those raids,' according to a translation by the SITE Institute, a private organization in Washington that tracks terrorism on the Web."
Do you ever get the feeling that the rest of the world is laughing at us? I mean, we didn't listen to our own "intelligence" why should we listen to a madman with delusions of grandeur?

Of course, that could also include the First Renter.
