At The Heart Of Plamegate

Is a complete and utter contempt for women. Duck! and Shrug still believe in a world view that sees women as an extension of their husbands and not as valuable individuals in their own right. They actually believed that by revealing that Joe Wilson was married to a CIA operative would make him look suspect and his information incorrect and irrelevant, insteasd of "oh wow, a husband and wife team that work to protect the oountry just like in the movies" type of reaction.
NATIONAL JOURNAL: Bush Directed Cheney To Counter War Critic (07/03/06): "On July 6, 2003, Wilson himself went public in an op-ed piece in The New York Times and on NBC's 'Meet the Press' with his claims that the Bush administration had misrepresented the Niger information to make the case for war.

Among those who took notice was Cheney.

Cheney cut Wilson's op-ed out of the newspaper and wrote in the margins: 'Have they done this sort of thing before? Send an Amb[assador] to answer a question. Do we ordinarily send people out pro bono to work for us? Or did his wife send him on a junket?'"
I guess love of country wasn't an option that was considered? Too bad the Wilson assessment of the Niger situation was correct, something that tends to be forgotten.

Any way you look at this it is isn't good. The Executive branch believes that informing people that their personal data is being mined and their freedoms are being reduced, is treason, but they don't believe that leaking the identity of a secret CIA operative is, because she is a woman. I can hear the other part of the conversation. "Oh go ahead, let's just get this out, she's married with twins she should be at home anyway." They never thought of the consequences of the their actions.

No wonder FBI and CIA agents are leaving in droves.
