Light Day Today

I will be celebrating half a century on this planet. Started yesterday and it will continue into tomorrow. Every year we have fewer of the people born on this day and I celebrate the fact that I am one of the ones who is still here. With no grey hair. Had it cut yesterday, nary a one. Factor in the lack of dry, wrinkled skin because I didn't need the sun, add the breast reduction with corresponding lift and average guess from people who don't know me was 35. Right on.

That being said, this was so shameful I had to note this from ABC News. Sadly, I'm not surprised.
One of every three homeless males in the United States is a veteran, and each night as many as 200,000 men and women veterans go to sleep with no place to call home, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs.

With Memorial Day approaching, Democratic members of the House Veterans Affairs Committee held a forum on homeless veterans.

Rep. Bob Filner, D-Calif., who chaired the forum, was blunt. "It's a disgrace that we let any of our vets get in this position. If we spend a billion dollars every 2½ days in Iraq, we can spend a lot more for those who have served us but will be out on the streets tonight."

Filner said that when homeless providers say that government money only serves one in 10 of those in need, clearly more needs to be done.

According to recent statistics, the VA provided health care services to more than 100,000 homeless veterans in 2004, and the agency spent more than $1 billion to assist tens of thousands of homeless and at-risk veterans.

But Peter Dougherty, the VA's director of Homeless Veterans Programs, admitted more needs to be done. "As long as there is a homeless veteran out there on the streets of America who is seeking services we need to be there to provide those services, " he said.
Support the troops, right up until they are no longer needed or capable of stopping bullets.

From the no, say it isn't so file:
The deal will make Rolling Rock brands available to more consumers, St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch said. The company will begin brewing Rolling Rock and Rock Green Light in August. Anheuser-Busch, maker of the top-selling beer and light beer, Budweiser and Bud Light, is the nation’s largest brewer.
They say they will keep the recipe, but I don't believe them. A Rolling Rock on a superhot day really hits the spot. Now I know why we like it, InBev also made Becks. Mom's favorite beer. Mine is Guiness.

Have a great day!! I'm off.

But then you knew that, didn't you?
